The two Lepers

The two Lepers

The story of the two lepers can be found in 2 Kings 7:3-16. It tells of two lepers who were living outside the city gates during a time of great famine. One day, they decided to go to the enemy camp of the Arameans, hoping to find food and possibly spare their lives.

As they approached the camp, they found that the Lord had caused the Arameans to hear the sound of chariots and horses, so they fled in terror, leaving behind all their possessions, including food, clothing, and gold and silver.

When the lepers saw what had happened, they went back to the city and reported to the gatekeepers, who in turn informed the king. The king, initially skeptical of their report, sent scouts to investigate and found that it was true.

Here are some key teachings we can learn from this story:

  1. God is able to do the impossible. In this story, the Lord caused the Arameans to hear the sound of chariots and horses, causing them to flee in terror. This reminds us that God is able to do the impossible and can bring about miraculous solutions to our problems.

  2. We must have faith and take action. The two lepers could have easily given up and accepted their fate, but they decided to take action and go to the enemy camp. This required faith and courage, and it ultimately led to their deliverance.

  3. We should share good news with others. When the lepers discovered the abundance of food and resources in the enemy camp, they did not keep it to themselves. They went back to the city to share the good news with others. Similarly, when we experience God's blessings and provision in our lives, we should share that news with others and be a source of encouragement to those around us.

  4. We should trust in God's provision. The famine in the city was severe, but God provided a way for the people to be rescued from their situation. This story reminds us that we can trust in God's provision even when things seem hopeless or impossible.

In conclusion, the story of the two lepers teaches us about the power of faith and action, the importance of sharing good news with others, and the need to trust in God's provision.
